An explanation explains how or why something happens or what something is.
We really enjoy writing explanations because it means we can share with you all the interesting facts we have learned so far this year.

That was an amazing read, and I learned that a caterpillar sheds it's skin 5 times (I guess that saves it having a bath). You are all so clever. Well done.
