Room 3's Mid Year Celebrations

Hi Everyone! 

We are having a mid year celebration in Room 3 on Thursday to celebrate the children's hard work and achievements over the first half of the year. The celebration will have a winter theme!

We will be making ice cream together just before lunch so we can enjoy this special treat with our lunch. We are having an indoor picnic together for lunch. You don't need to bring along anything to share - just your own lunchbox as normal.

You may bring along a special friend (soft toy) to join in on our celebration on Thursday if you wish.

There will be plenty of fun activities happening throughout the day! I can't wait!

Creative Talent Quest

On Wednesday Gore Main School held their Creative Talent Quest. Everyone put their top effort into creating a masterpiece to enter in the talent quest.

Our New Skills

Congratulations Bella...Our Wacky Hair Day Winner!

Bella was the winner of Wacky Hair Day and she received tickets to the musical Hairspray!

Congratulations Bella! 

Her wacky hair do was complete with real flashing christmas lights!

Swimming

At Gore Main in Room 3 we are lucky. We get to do swimming lessons for two weeks. The bus picks us up at 9.30 am. When we are at the pool we wait for Room 1 and Room 2 to finish. Then its our turn. My instructor teaches me. Her name is Leeanne. All the children look like they are having fun. First we practise blowing bubbles. When we get to the other side we get the board. First we do it on our tummy. Then we go on our back with a board. Then we do it without a board on our back. Next she throws a toy. Then I swim to get it. Sometimes she throws two toys. I can hear splashing around me. I can feel the cold water on me. I can see people having fun doing their swimming lessons. Swimming at the Multi Sports Complex is tough but also fun.

Swimming

We went swimming at the pool today. My leader taught me how to do dolphin dives. The whole school goes swimming for two weeks. We go at 9.30 am and my leader is Argus. Argus lets me have his googles so I can see in the pool in the water. I am learning to float on my back and I sink because I try to put my tummy up but I sometimes can't. But I try my best!

Check out our awesome swimming art work. We used pastels to carefully draw ourselves floating in the pool. We even made sure the colours we used matched our swimming togs, goggles and caps. Next we drew white wavy lines and dyed our background blue like the pool. We sprinkled salt on the dye to give it a watery look!

Maths Strategies

Ball Skills

We have been practising our  ball skills. We know how to pass a large ball by making a W with our hands and pushing the ball forward from our chests ending with straight arms. We can also catch by making the same W with our hands and holding them like a target in front of our chest.

Wacky Hair Mufti Day

Yesterday was Wacky Hair Mufti Day at school. The children (and their families) put an outstanding effort into creating some fascinating hair styles.

Congratulations to our award winners this week! Aimin is our values award winner as he has been showing responsibility all the time. Kaylee and Thomas have been doing fantastic writing and maths! 

Wacky Hair Mufti Day Tomorrow!

It's mufti day on Friday!! Come dressed up with wacky hair to celebrate the musical Hairspray coming to Gore.

Members of Hairspray will be at school to judge and the wackiest do will receive tickets to the show! 

I cant wait to see your wacky hairstyles tomorrow!

These boys created these spaceships at morning tea today. Miss McKenzie thought they were very clever to come up with these designs all by themselves...
