Maia's Inquiry Question

Why are there shells in the sea?

On Friday we explored Maia's inquiry question about shells. Miss McKenzie brought along some shells that had been collected while dredging for oysters. We looked carefully at all the different shells and together realised they were the homes of animals! We realised that all the animals we knew of that lived in shells had squishy bodies so they needed the shell for protection! Today we found out the animals with soft bodies that live in the shells are called mollusks.

I loved reading your writing about shells Room 3. I think it was a great inquiry questions and I learnt new information from reading your writing. Keep up the great work. - Mrs Russell
